The Klassieke Academie for Fine Arts holds an unusual position among art academies in the Netherlands. The Klassieke Academie is an independent, unsubsidised art school. Established in 2005 and managed by idealistic artists trained in Classic Arts. Their aim is to pass on their know how to next generations.

Students are taught how to master the tools of a visual artist; the actual artistic processing is their personal affair and will flow from their own, unique, personality.
It goes without saying that the Klassieke Academie also aims to develop the content side of the profession, but driven by the artists themselves rather than by the powers that be.

The rigorous monitoring of quality is also exceptional. Admission is not only the result of successfully passing an entrance exam (no more than 20 students are admitted each year), each year development will be tested against a number of assessment criteria – those who do not reach the right standard will have to stop their studies.
